RUNNING SHOES THAT OFFSET CO₂ EMISSIONS
Mizuno aims to become "Carbon neutral by 2050" in order to build a sustainable society.
As part of these efforts, Mizuno has developed running shoes, "WAVE NEO WIND" and "WAVE NEO ULTRA" of the "WAVE NEO COLLECTION" with the aim of creating shoes that reduce environmental impact while maintaining the functions of the performance running shoes Mizuno has developed to date, which can be used for full marathons.
These shoes reduce CO2 emissions by using environmentally friendly materials such as recycled polyester and plant-derived materials as raw materials, and by using non-dyed upper knit materials to conserve water resources and reduce environmental impact.
In addition, with the aim of absorbing CO2 emitted during the product life cycle of these shoes, Mizuno planted approximately 100,000 long pine trees in Chattahoochee, Georgia, in the United States from January to February 2022, in cooperation with the National Forest Foundation. These trees will continue to absorb CO2 from the atmosphere for nearly 90 years. As a result, the amount of CO2 emissions during the product life cycle of the WAVE NEO COLLECTION which will be sold worldwide in the first year (about 50,000pairs), will be offset by the amount of CO2 absorbed through afforestation, making this the first product in Mizuno's history to offset CO2 emissions.
Mizuno continues to take on the challenge of realizing a sustainable society and aims to protect the rich global environment where people can enjoy sports, and pass it on to the next generation.
